purrrnicious | Heart Game: Run #3

[You enter a wide open space. The floor seems to be built above pools of liquid magma, warming the whole area to the point of being uncomfortable. The magma itself seems to be fed from numerous pipes leading in from various directions elsewhere in the complex, you may recognize them as being the same ones that run through the hallways and some of the other rooms you’ve been in.

In the centre is forge machinery — a conveyor belt that’s currently stalled connecting to the drop hammer, the device that shapes the metal. There are a number of settings, though they’re only numbered, that seem to control what weapon is created, and a monitor currently displaying error code information.

What’s probably more interesting than that, though, is the scorpion-woman who is fretting over the machinery. You might recognize her from one of the guest units.]

[ she blinks, because, oh, she does recognize her. ]

Scorpia? [ didn't expect to find her here. ] Need a hand? [ because shit looks fucked in here. ]

"Whew, boy, do I ever. Do you have any idea how hard it is to. . ."

[She trails off when she sees D.Va's mascot. Her eyes widen. Then she lets out a delighted squeal and drops what she's doing to come over and scoop Catra up in an exuberant, bone-crushing hug.

Catra does that cat thing where they squirm and flail to get free.]

[ she jumps off the bot and takes a look around. ] Heh... [ she smiles at the cute exchange. ] Just don't break her, KTNX.

Now, what can I do to help? [ don't mind her doing a bit of vibrating because if she can help get the forge up and running then maybe she can get a weapon of some kind. WEAPON. ]

"Oh––"

[She freezes. With a catgirl dangling in her arms.]

"Well, the fan belt's broken, see? I just can't, you know, get in there and fix it. Not enough fingers, heh heh."

...serious question: do you think I'll lose any of mine? [ she's going to approach the broken fan belt and give it a once over. ] I guess you'll walk me through exactly what I need to do?

"Oh, don't you worry, the machine's shut down for now. You just have to take the broken one off and put on a new one –– there's a box of them over there."

Is that all.

[ she cracks her knuckles. ]

I got this.

[ heads over to the box of fan belts to grab one, so she can replace the broken one. ]

[It's easy. Surprisingly so. Huh.

Meanwhile Catra's been gnawing on Scorpia's claw to get down, Scorpia has been not at all caring, and it's not until she moves to gesture about some instruction she's giving that Catra finally drops to the ground and scampers back behind the spiderbot, glaring in their general direction.]

[ she finishes and... she's kind of surprised it had actually been that easy. steps back, half expecting something to explode. ]

All done? [ goes back over to her bot and catra. ]

"Oh, yeah, we've just gotta test it. Y'know, give it the old drill march, pump out some weapons. What setting should we use, let's see. . .

. . .There's the one for other units, the one for BARiTONES, the one for strangers, the one for strangers who make friendly overtures, hm. . ."

[ bounces on over. ]

Makes the biggest, bestest, most awesome weapon ever!

"Er, this is more of a mass-production sort of thing. . .?"

[Catra comes over too, now, and tugs at D.Va's arm to get her attention.]

[ she looks at catra. ]

[ sup kitty ♥ ]

[She points out a keyboard and monitor attached to the other end of the machine.]

"You can reprogram it to make other stuff."

[ smirks. ]

Now we're talking.

[ she heads over there with catra and checks out the keyboard and monitor. liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike anything? because can she make her mech? ]

[The only thing she can't select is the purpose, she only has a list of things that all seem to be social situations -- like Scorpia mentioned.

Things like "For BARiTONES", "For allied units", "For enemy units", "For strangers making friendly overtures", "For enemies - low risk of physical assault", "For enemies - high risk of physical assault", and so on.

Setting the weapon to be made seems to have no parameters. In fact, she doesn't even have to make it a weapon, she can make it cup noodles if she wants.]

[ this is the strangest forge she’s ever encountered. she looks to catra for help. ]

Should we go with for allied units? I mean, that’s give us both something, right? But, oh, that reminds me - here. [ offers her the knife she took from intensity’s locker. ] In case anybody tries anything funny.

[She takes the knife, looking a little confused.]

Um. . . no, it's for dealing with those people. See?

[She has to reach up on her tiptoes, but she taps the screen -- right now the Forge is set to manufacture a plain shield for allied units.]

So then let’s go with for enemies with high risk of physical assault. That sounds like it’s bound to give the best result. [ as far as something to attack or defend with... depending on the setting. she’s going to change it to weapon and throw the switch to see what happens. ]

[ also if she can make cup noodles with this thing then that’s absolutely what she’s doing next. ]

[What kind of weapon would you like that set to? There are no restrictions, she can design whatever she wishes.]

[ rocket launcher! ]

[You set "enemies with high risk of physical assault" to "rocket launcher".

Scorpia activates the Forge, and the machine starts up and begins manufacturing, and while it's not the quickest, rocket launchers start coming out on the conveyor on the other end.]

"Woo! Would ya look at that, it works! Nice job, really, I mean it, you're just great!"

Have either of you gals ever used one of these babies before?

[ grabs catra and rushes to the end where they start coming out to watch excitedly. ]

"Oh! Oh!

. . .No. I mean, you know."

[Snaps her claws. They're probably not compatible with most weapons. Catra stumbles along after, watching dubiously as the weapons are produced.]
