[The blanket bundle squeaks and jumps up –– or tries to, except she gets tangled in the blankets and goes down in a heap, yowling.

It's a tiny baby Kohime who, for such a terror, sure was an adorable little ball of floof.]

Hey-- sorry! I surprised you. I didn't mean to scare you though.

[ She smiles softly and kneels down, getting low to try and show that she doesn't mean to be a threat. ]

I love all of the artwork in here. Are they your drawings?

No. . . that's the Core's. She's got stuff all over the place.

[And it's at about this point another little girl comes bounding in –– human, with blonde hair in a ponytail and a little gap tooth. Honestly, she's also cute.

She calls out, "Catra!" but skids to a stop with wide eyes when she sees Crown and Kaguya.]

She smiles when the other child comes bounding in and lifts a hand up gently. ]

Hello there. Sorry to surprise you too. Catra was just telling me about the cute pictures in here.

[She puffs out her chest and moves to stand beside Catra -- a little in front of her, actually, trying (and failing) to look tough. The stance is protective.]

"Who're you? You don't look like a soldier."

Mm. Somehow both my companion and I lost our normal clothes and had to make do with what was available to us. I tried to find a change of clothes, but we've unfortunately hit a string of bad luck.

[She looks briefly confused, but she buys it, because she's, like, six. The two girls share a brief look, then Adora sketches an attempt at a salute and says "Ma'am!"

Catra just watches them curiously.]

[ She smiles fondly and salutes her back. ]

At ease. After all, I intruded into your own space. My name is Kaguya. It's nice to meet you both.

"I'm Adora, and this is Catra."

[The little blonde girl says, and Catra straightens at the mention of her name, her tail giving a little swish.]

Those are nice strong names. And you both look so close.

[ Indicating the drawings again! ]

Both of you have a number of aspirations. Admirals and Force Captains, huh?

[Adora looks proud, puffing out her chest.]

"I'm gonna be a Force Captain!" she says. Catra twists her hands and simply adds, "I'm gonna be with Adora."

[He'll get a nod for that -- ironically right as the girl who looks like that doll comes bounding in.]

[He can, though it doesn't do much. Taking a closer look at the plush reveals that the string is actually connected to a small, rectangular object that's tucked away in its jacket.]

i guess he's gonna use Adora as a distraction so he can palm that and then hand the doll back to Catra with a smile

[Hold that thought -- as soon as you grab the cartridge, everyone present fades into a memory, living it as if it were their own.

It's Catra, maybe six or seven years old, huddled up on the lower bunk on the end of the row of the barracks, cocooned in a plain, rough blue blanket, and she starts crying, though she’s trying not to make too much sound as she does. After a short time passes, another little girl enters from the hallway: Adora, but also maybe around 7 years old, and she calls for “Catra” and comes over before kneeling in front of her to pull the blanket away from her head. Kohime hisses, and Adora smiles reassuringly. It's the same scene they came upon when they entered.

Adora: Catra, it’s okay! It’s just me.

She sits next to Kohime on the bed as she rubs at her tears with a corner of the blanket.

Adora: . . .It doesn’t matter what they do to us, you know? You look out for me, and I look out for you. Nothing really bad can happen as long as we have each other.

Catra: You promise?

Adora: I promise. C’mon, let’s go back out!

Adora puts her arms around Kohime and guides her to her feet, then takes her hand and leads her out of the dorm and back down the hallway. Kohime's clearly cheered up by this, even giving Adora a little almost shy smile as they go.

You start the memory feeling sad, hurt, and scared -- but Adora's presence is a reassurance, she cheers you up and you feel like this person will always be by your side, so you can manage all the dark and hurtful things in the world with her help. You love this person.]

I'm glad at least that they.... had each other.

. . . . . . And Adora. She's the core, somehow.
